Long Island Conservatory

We offer private music lesson for a variety of instruments, as well as group lessons for students. The school offers opportunities for ensemble and orchestra participation and theory classes.


Private lesson
The LIC Music Department offers a wide range of music classes: piano, string, woodwinds, brass, drum, guitar, flute and vocal studies. A free evaluation is arranged before registering for private lessons. The evaluation provides students and teachers with a good chance to meet with each other. Teachers can get to know the students' level and prepare their teaching plan accordingly. Teachers will introduce students to different styles of music, namely classical, Jazz, popular and special occasion. Based on the NYSSMA test guidelines, music is selected according to the students' ability and level. Teachers will prepare students for the tests during their lesson.

Chamber
This class provides students with the opportunity to work together and to play music  as a group. Each student will recognize his/her importance a as a group member as well as how to create synergy among the each others. Students will have performing opportunities at the New York Youth Concert each December(Recommended NYSSMA level 3 and up)

Group Lesson
The young children's Musical Class is a 16 week violin/vocal lesson for young children. Students will not sing together but also act as a group. Early exposure to music will help young to development their musical interests and to prepare  them for music lesson in the future. It's truly one hour of fun activity for small children.

Theory
Through diction, solfege and theoretical explanation, this will provide fundamental music, theoretical knowledge and instruction on basic music, on sight reading and on ear training skills. It is designed to enhance the students' ability to better understand musical pieces and to learn musical pieces more quickly.

Musical Theater program
Did someone say Broadway? This program bridges drama and music and is designed to give students the creative outlet in which to free the individual from any inhibitions. Students have the chance to discover themselves through character study and other various drama techniques, and to apply a free spiritedness toward musical songs. LIC offers intensive training and performing opportunities for students. Over the years, we have done many musical shows including: Mamma Mia, Annie, South Pacific, King and I, Fiddler on the Roof and Hairspray.
The music Theater Program is conveniently scheduled on Saturdays, and is open to students 3years and up. No musical background is required. For detailed information, please contact the LIC music department.

LISMA ORCHESTRA
LIC arrange LISMA orchestra. All instruments welcome and is open to NYSSMA level 5 and up(age 10-17). Orchestra time is at from 5:00 to 6:30 on Saturday.
